This seminar focused on the jurisprudence on the jurisdiction of statutory Courts to address constitutional issues and make determinations.

Objectives

This presentation was intended to highlight recent trends in jurisprudence regarding the Courts’ jurisdiction.

Summary

Professor Han-Ru Zhou, Associate Professor of Public Law, Université de Montreal, Faculty of Law, presented his paper, “The Legal Effects of Canadian Federal Courts’ Constitutional Judgments” which was followed by a Lunch and Learn discussion.

Justice Luc Martineau liaised with Professor Zhou and identified Professor Zhou’s research as of high interest to the Federal Courts.

The presentation and discussion was approximately two hours in duration.
