The Court of Appeal for Saskatchewan delivered a series of Lunch & Learns for all judges of the Court. The Lunch & Learns were designed to bring in guest speakers to deliver presentations on a variety of topics.
The objective of these events was to broaden the perspective and information base of the members of the Court with respect to the operation of the justice system.
The topics for the 2017 Lunch & Learns included the following: current innovations in the criminal justice and corrections system, including the use of data analytics in directing an effective criminal justice response, focusing particularly on early intervention and rehabilitation; the role of justices of the peace, their mandate and jurisdiction and how their work fits into the role and mandate of provincial court judges. The program assessed the impact of social conditions on Indigenous people and innovative programming approaches to deal with these complex issues.
